Minnesota Chief Justice Eric Magnuson and Associate Justice Barry Anderson — both Pawlenty appointees — recused themselves from the routine matter of allowing two of Al Franken’s out-of-state attorneys (including Marc Elias) to represent him before the state Supreme Court in the matter of Norm Coleman’s election challenge. The two justices have recused themselves from past Franken-Coleman matters (both served on the state canvassing board for the recent election), and it appears that they will do the same when the court considers Coleman’s appeal.
