The Corner

A Minor Peeve

All of the news outlets are calling this a showdown between the executive and legislative branches. But it’s not. It’s a showdown of the  executive and judicial branches on one side and the legislative on the other (really only one half of the legislative branch, though I’m sure the Senate would get its panties in a bunch too if something similar happened on their side of the capitol). The FBI had a warrant. That means the judicial branch has taken a side. If we are going to get deep into the weeds on constitutional issues and niceties — as the House wants to do — it seems to me that the court’s approval of the warrant can’t simply be dismissed.
