This past weekend, the Dallas chapter of a
national outfit called Mothers Against Bush held a get-together in a city
park. It got nice press coverage in the Dallas Morning News, which ran a
charming photo of a toddler whacking a punching bag with President Bush’s
image on it. Today our paper has an editorial on the topic, in which we
reprint the
photograph. We said that teaching your little
children to disrespect the President of the United States like that, no
matter who the president is, is wrong. Let them learn partisanship when they
are old enough to understand politics, but let them learn patriotism while
they are still innocent. That poor child in the photo has no idea what she’s
doing. But I bet her mother does. For shame.
