Mook: Clinton Deserves Credit for Conceding

Rebecca Traister’s profile of Hillary Clinton in defeat is a rich stew of self-delusion to which both author and subject contribute ingredients. You’ll want to read and savor the whole thing.

Of all the amazing passages in the article, the one that stood out the most was her campaign manager Robby Mook’s comment on her morning-after concession speech:

“I think she has never gotten enough credit for how definitive and clear that speech was, what a smooth transfer of power she was facilitating,” says Mook. “It was so close, there were so many allegations, particularly about irregularities, and she never wavered on the idea that she had to definitively concede and make sure there was a smooth transition of power.”

I’m sure giving that speech was difficult for Clinton. But really, Mook thinks—and apparently Traister also thinks—that she should get credit for allowing a smooth transition of power?
