Among historians of the founding the word is that the only big guy with illegible handwriting was Henry Knox (hauled captured cannon from Ft. Ticonderoga to Boston in the winter of 1776, first Secretary of War).

For Gentleman Revolutionary I did a fair amount of reading in the microfilmed diaries of Gouverneur Morris–hardly an ideal means of reproduction. Every entry was clear as a bell.
