Today, while reporting on domestic repression in Iran, their man in Cairo tells us that “the U.S. Congress appropriated $66.1 million this year to support Iranian opposition groups, and Bush administration officials have talked openly of seeking “regime change.”
If only. Actually, Secretary of State Rice and her cohorts have repeatedly said that they do NOT advocate regime change, but “changed behavior.”
This is apparently another of those fantasies destined to become conventional wisdom.
