A More Optimistic Take

From a reader, an adjustment to Possibility #3 in my earlier posting about the recall (the reader’s comments appear in itals):

Der Arnold wins–and raises taxes. At this point the leading Republican in the state would be pro-tax and pro-choice and pro-everything else that Reagan Republicans oppose. Maybe Arnold would be able to register a whole slew of new Republicans, which would put California senate republicans into a better position, possibly even pave the way for a non-RINO Republican to ascend to the governorship someday. All this is not to mention keeping…[out of office Bustamante,] who PROMISES to raise taxes by about 73 gajillion dollars (you might want to check that number).

I did check the number. It’s $8 billion. And, Lord knows, I hope the reader is right.
