Most New Yorkers Think Climate Change Caused Sandy

Sixty-nine percent of New York State residents believe that climate change was responsible for Hurricane Sandy, according to a Siena Research Institute poll released today. Respondents were asked if they thought “the dramatic storms that have hit New York State the last two years — Hurricane Sandy this year and Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee last year” were “isolated weather events” or if they demonstrated “global climate change.” It looks like most New Yorkers don’t read NRO.

A large majority of those surveyed — 72 percent — also favored “a major infrastructure project” to protect New York City from future storms.
