Following the release of the January jobs report, CNBC’s Brian Sullivan came on MSNBC’s Morning Joe and told the hosts that the higher unemployment rate was a good sign because there are more people looking for work again. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report though, that’s not the case: Americans no longer in the workforce — meaning those unemployed and no longer looking for work — increased by 169,000 last month, going from a total of 88.8 million in December to 89 million in January.
