The situation in Egypt is tricky. Here is our editorial. We would prefer that Mubarak stay for now to forestall the possibility of something worse arising from the chaos of a revolution. But it should be made clear to him that he has become a decidedly transitional figure, and that he must institute reforms that make it possible for Egyptians to work their will through the political system.
