Look, I get that the White House has a lot at stake in fighting off the collusion charge and so do a lot of people invested in the White House. But if you can take a step back from the day-to-day partisan food fight for a second, it is astounding and more than a little grotesque that on the day the DOJ indicts twelve Russian intelligence operatives for meddling in domestic American politics, the only response from the White House is to gloat that none of this proves collusion.
The indictments Rod Rosenstein announced are good news for all Americans. The Russians are nailed. No Americans are involved. Time for Mueller to end this pursuit of the President and say President Trump is completely innocent.

They may feel they have no choice, as this is a street fight now. And however you want to score the blame game for how we got here, it seems undeniable to me that in a healthier political climate, the president of the United States, his administration, and his party would show a little righteous indignation and maybe even some furious anger over this.
Instead, the summit will proceed and the familiar talking points will flow.
