Mukasey Calls Courting Disaster ‘Absolutely Superb’

Frank Gaffney just had an outstanding interview with former attorney general Michael Mukasey (as well as Ralph Peters and Andy McCarthy) on Secure Freedom Radio. You can listen to the whole thing here

I am a huge admirer of Mukasey, so I was particularly humbled by his kind words about my book, Courting Disaster:

GAFFNEY: Yeah, you know there is an interesting piece in Real Clear Politics today by Mark Thiessen who I think you worked with in the Bush administration who talks about Scott Brown the man who may even as we speak be winning in Massachusetts, who has not flinched from endorsing even water-boarding and if he does win it, it may mean that this is an opportunity to revisit the whole question of whether we as a nation should be flinching from this stance.

MUKASEY: I didn’t see — I didn’t see Mark Thiessen’s piece but I have seen and am in the middle of and I hope to be at the end of by tomorrow, a book of his — his book called Courting Disaster

GAFFNEY: Yes.

MUKASEY: Which is brand new and absolutely superb and describes, in detail, how information was obtained and used—valuable information was obtained and used, and I think that your listeners should read it.

GAFFNEY: We will be talking with Mark about the book, and I think this piece was drawn from it.  SO thank you for teasing that very –

MUKASEY: If you talk to him before I do, please tell him that it is a superb book.

GAFFNEY: We will do so, and I’m sure he’ll look to you for a blurb, as a matter of fact! [Laughs]

MUKASEY: I’d be happy to provide one. He’s already got a distinguished set of blurb writers, including General Hayden, Debra Burlingame (the sister of the pilot of North American Airlines Flight 77) –

GAFFNEY: A dear friend of ours.

MUKASEY (continues): former Secretary Rumsfeld and the Vice-President, Dick Cheney, but he doesn’t need me to –

GAFFNEY: Good.  Well that’s a pretty good crowd — You should be in it as well. General Mukasey, we’re going to have to leave it there, I’m afraid.
