2:28 P.M.: Police now say they suspect the shooting is a terrorist attack.

2:26 P.M.: More details are trickling in about the first shooting, which took place at a shopping mall. Reports suggest that multiple gunmen carried it out. Meanwhile, armed officers are flooding the city center in an effort to stave off further attacks.

2:20 P.M.: From the Munich police:

2:09 P.M.: Residents of Munich are being told to “stay in their homes” and monitor the media for updates. Apparently, police are still looking for the shooter — or shooters.

2:05 P.M.: There are reports of a second attack, this one near a metro station:

2:00 P.M.: Another attack, this time in Munich. From Reuters:

Gunmen went on a shooting rampage in a shopping mall in the southern German city of Munich on Friday, killing and wounding many people, police said.

Authorities were evacuating people from the Olympia mall but many others were hiding inside.

The Bavarian Interior Ministry said three people were dead, NTV television reported. A Munich police spokeswoman said multiple people were killed or wounded.

“We believe we are dealing with a shooting rampage,” the spokeswoman said.

More than one gunman was believed to be involved and no one had been arrested, she said.

“We believe there was more than one perpetrator. The first reports came at 6 p.m., the shooting apparently began at a McDonald’s in the shopping center. There are still people in the shopping center. We are trying to get the people out and take care of them.”
