My, What Convenient Timing on that New Rule for Student Activists (UPDATED)

Terry, a reader on my work Facebook page, notices another wrinkle to Fairfax County Public Schools’ new rule allowing middle-school and high-school students one excused absence per year for activism: the policy goes into effect January 27, 2020.

The national March for Life in Washington D.C. is January 24. My, what convenient timing for those who don’t want to see teenagers participating in a pro-life march.

UPDATE: Good news, the starting date for the policy has been pushed back several days. “Beginning January 21, 2020 FCPS students in grades 7-12 will be allowed one partial school day absence each school year to participate in civic engagement activities.”
