Andrew, I’m not encouraging people to stay home, but I don’t think a post-election narrative argument is a rallying cry for conservatives. If John McCain wins, the narrative may very well be that conservatives lost. In 2006, conservative issues were some state winners: Ward Connerly’s civil-rights initiative in Michigan and marriage amendments. But social issues are still losers, according to the narrative. Conservatives are never going to win that game.
