National Mall Closed but Will Host Immigration-Reform Rally

Despite the closure of the National Mall, the site will play host to an immigration-reform rally tomorrow.

The rally, “Camino American: March for Immigration Reform,” is being organized by immigration activist groups, along with the Service Employees International Union and AFL-CIO. The National Park Service (NPS) told the Washington Examiner that the protest was allowed because of the groups’ First Amendment rights, the same justification the NPS gave to retroactively allow World War II veterans to visit their memorial.

Roughly 30 members of Congress are expected to attend, including House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.)
