Victory!

In other news, I had the honor of participating in an Intelligence Squared debate with my friend Steve Camarota from the Center for Immigration Studies the other day. They are great events — Oxford-style debates with very high production values that reflect a strong commitment to intense, but civil argument. The resolution was, “Give undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship.” Steve and I were, of course, opposed and I’m delighted to say we carried the day. The New York City audience, naturally, started strongly disposed to favor the resolution: 66% in favor, 24% undecided, and 10% against. At the end, we had swung it to 55% in favor, 37% against, and 8% undecided. It was a heck of a lot of fun, and if you really don’t know what to do with yourself while we wait for the election results, you can find the video here.
