Nick’s Waiting for You to Do One More Thing to Get on the Nice List

Look at that face. He’s almost there. You just need to do one more generous thing to get Saint Nick to break out in a big smile and confirm you on the list of the coal-lump-free.

Let me suggest a contribution to National Review Institute’s End-of-Year Appeal – that will do the trick. As you know, National Review Institute is the journalism think tank that is home to many of your favorite conservative writers, with a crew of fellows that includes Victor Davis Hanson, Kevin Williamson, Kathryn Jean Lopez, Jay Nordlinger, Ramesh Ponnuru, Reihan Salam, Andy McCarthy, Rick Brookhiser, John O’Sullivan, David French, and Douglas Murray. Right now, NRI is seeking to raise $250,000 to underwrite part of the costs of its vital efforts and many vital programs. Hundreds have already made tax-deductible contributions, and even left some encouraging words that we hope compete with your sugarplum visions for contemplation and inspiration. Here are a few of the Nice List members:

Jim donated $250 and huzzahed: “For Goldberg, Williamson, Hanson, Nordlinger, McCarthy, French, et al. – Thank you!” Back at ya Jim.

Cathy did good with a $100 gift and explained: “I’m grateful for articles by Andrew McCarthy – his perspective is unique.” And powerful. Thanks Cathy.

Susan is moved to donate $50 and places the credit: “Many thanks to Jonah Goldberg – reassuring me that logic, reasoning and sanity are still valuable!”

Carol doubles that and then reveals her stage-managing skills: “Jonah – Please talk directly into the mic on your podcast, or turn up the recording volume.” I love it! By the way, get the ear horn and do listen to The Remnant with Jonah Goldberg.

One last one: Donald tosses a C note our way and says “I think Jonah, Kevin, VDH, Jay and all the others may be the best in the business!!” Look – two exclamation points for the fellows. You rock Donald. Much appreciated.

NRI is central to preserving and advancing the Buckley mission. And you are central to NRI. Especially if you are thinking, as many do right about now, how you will make your 2017 tax-deductible contributions, please consider making one to NRI. Yes, your help is sorely needed. If you want to be especially generous, think about becoming a member of the 1955 Society. You’ll make Nick very happy. Yourself too. You can make your donation here, or if you prefer to mail a check, make it payable to “National Review Institute” and send it to NRI at 19 West 44th Street, Suite 1701, New York, NY 10036. NRI’s EIN # is 13-3649537.
