NBC decided to cancel its production of a minseries on Hillary Clinton on Monday, the same day CNN announced that they too were dropping their planned documentary of Hillary Clinton.
“After reviewing and prioritizing our slate of movie/mini-series development, we’ve decided that we will no longer continue developing the Hillary Clinton miniseries,” the network said in a statement Monday. NBC had announced in July that it was planning a four-hour miniseries on Hillary Clinton, but faced backlash from the Republican National Committee, which voted to boycott NBC and CNN during the presidential primaries in 2016 if the networks refused to cancel the projects. The RNC claimed the proposed films essentially amounted to a giant political ad for Hillary Clinton.
After CNN announced that it would cancels its program, the RNC took credit for the decision and called on NBC to cancel its miniseries as well.
