Celebration and Deploration

Mona Charen and I have done a new Need to Know, here. We talk about the pope in Cuba (and the pope in the United States). We talk about Scott Walker (and, by extension, Rick Perry and Tim Pawlenty). We talk about Jeremy Corbyn, the new leader of Britain’s Labour party, and his refusal to sing the national anthem. I sort of admire him for this. He’s being true to himself, and not mainstreaming — so far.

We hail a couple of heroes: one a political prisoner in Venezuela, the other a swimmer of the English Channel. I flog my new cause: Trump for mayor of New York. This goes with my older cause, Carson for mayor of Baltimore. Plus, Mona and I deplore the New York Times’s now-infamous Jew-tracker.

And there is, of course, more. Again, the link is here. Our ’cast goes out with Max Bruch’s Kol Nidrei, in which the soloist is Jacqueline du Pré.
