I read the email you posted in The Corner in reaction to your column about

Big Ideas.  The author really makes your point.  His entire enumeration of

“ideas” amounts to nothing more than opposition to anything initiated by

President Bush.  And since the poor, by definition, don’t have much of

anything it’s kind of comical to talk about “Big Takeaways from the poor…”

Of course, the sad truth is that most of the Left’s Big Ideas have already

become part of conventional political wisdom (Social Security, Socialized

Medicine for the poor and elderly, “prevailing wage” laws, and so on).
