Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to a tweet critical of him sent out by the official account of the White House National Security Council last week. The tweet linked to a Fareed Zakaria article, calling it an “Interesting take . . . on why PM Netanyahu’s predictions on #Iran have been wrong for 25 years.”

“The reason I’ve been warning for 25 years is because Iran has been trying to get to the bomb,” Netanyahu said when asked by Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation Sunday if he was offended by the tweet. “If we had let our guard down then Iran would have had the weapon.”

Netanyahu said that a more informative use of Twitter would be to retweet a recent tweet of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei calling for nine ways and reasons that Israel should be destroyed.

“It’s useful to remember who your ally is and who your enemy is,” he added.
