Nevermind About Iraq — Not At All

Kate is exactly right about the context and nature of Bob Novak’s comments about the Plame affair. Obviously, I was there. Bob spent most of the speech talking about, well, Iraq. There was certainly no attempt on his part to change the subject of the national media buzz just before the historic vote, and indeed his comments came during Q&A and consisted of dismissing how much the Plame story had been blown out of proportion. There was no evident intent to signal or reveal anything about the source. He also reiterated his opposition to the Iraq intervention beforehand but his support for fighting until victory is achieved now that the U.S. is committed.
