New Body-Cam Footage Shows Minnesota Shooting from ICE Officer’s Perspective

Local Minnesota outlet Alpha News just released body-cam footage of the lead-up to the moment when an ICE officer fatally shot Renee Nicole Good.

It’s clear from the video that Renee Nicole Good and her wife, Rebecca Good, were not near law enforcement by accident. Rebecca can be heard taunting ICE officers, demanding that the officers show their faces, and saying, “You want to come at us? You want to come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy.” In a statement she made on Friday, Rebecca confirmed that the couple stopped near law enforcement intentionally: “On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.”

Officers told Renee to get out of the car multiple times; she instead drove in reverse, before she looked ahead, presumably at the officer who was perpendicular to her car, and accelerated. The video appears to show the officer being hit by Renee’s car — contrary to what Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota, activists, and protesters have said in the days following the event.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) even published an article in the New York Times on Thursday calling President Donald Trump’s claim about the agent — that Renee “ran him over”  — was “false.”

“I’ve watched multiple videos, from multiple perspectives — it seems clear that Ms. Good, a mother of three, was trying to leave the scene, not attack an agent,” Frey wrote.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) likewise posted Wednesday on social media that he had “seen the video,” and called Homeland Security’s classification of the incident as self-defense “propaganda.”

Frey and Walz have not commented on the recently released body-cam footage.
