NR Webathon

New Goal Alert: Can You Help Us Get to $125,000?

The question “What have you done for me lately?” is always an important one for any institution as old as National Review — now in our eighth decade of conservative journalism!

Oh, don’t get me wrong — I love, admire, and celebrate NR’s institutional history and lore and the successes and breakthroughs of previous generations of conservatives.

But we’re not resting on any laurels here at National Review. We believe the fight for the future of conservatism — and thus, for the America that we know and love — is the one that is being fought today and at this very hour.

As the United States prepares to commemorate the 250th birthday of our great republic, we are faced with new and vivid challenges, and the threats to American ordered liberty are coming from both the left and elements of the disordered right.

That’s why at National Review we wake up every morning ready to defend and advance constitutional government, free enterprise, our moral bedrocks, a strong defense, a love of country, and the importance of Western civilization. It’s through advocating these six priorities that we aim to preserve the “ordered liberty that is necessary to human flourishing and to a free, prosperous, and strong America.”

Indeed, that’s our very mission statement. We believe in it, and we hope that our friends like you believe in it too.

For 70 years, we worked to build the best conservative journalism outfit around. An outfit that isn’t afraid to tell the truth, no matter the consequences. And we think we’ve done that. But let me say this as plainly as possible: NR would not and could not exist without the support of our generous readers and subscribers. It takes money — real money — to print the magazine, pay our writers and editors, run the website, rent our office space, and cover U.S. politics, culture, and foreign affairs.

As we move toward the end of our fall webathon, I can only say how grateful and encouraged I am by your demonstration of financial support. You’ve already helped us surge past $100,000 in total donations, so we’re going to press our luck and raise the bar: Can you help us get to $125,000?

As my friend and editor in chief Rich Lowry has said, a “morally and intellectually sound conservatism” is the best — and indeed, the only — way to save America. Your financial support directly underwrites that effort.

To all of you out there, thank you so much for your help, support, and generosity.
