New Jersey SSM Polling

Over at the marriagedebate.com blog Maggie Gallagher reports on a new poll out of New Jersey.  Some highly publicized past polls have shown majorities in New Jersey in favor of gay marriage.  (I posted one poll recently that showed a clear majority opposed to same-sex marriage.) The new poll shows only 29 percent of New Jerseyans in favor of gay marriage, 40 percent in support of civil unions, and 16 percent favoring no recognition at all.  And New Jerseyans now favor a state constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman by a margin of 54 percent to 38 percent.
