New National Poll: Gingrich 7 Points Ahead of Romney

Newest numbers from Rasmussen poll of likely GOP primary voters: Newt Gingrich (35 percent), Mitt Romney (28 percent), Rick Santorum (16 percent), and Ron Paul (10 percent). In the past week, Gingrich has gone up 8 points, and Mitt Romney’s numbers went down 2 points. Another jump in the poll was the stark increase of how many felt Gingrich was the strongest opponent to put against President Obama. Only 29 percent thought that last week; this week 39 percent did. In contrast, while 43 percent viewed Romney as the strongest opponent last week, that number dipped to 37 percent this week.
