A New Poll on Marriage

Pew’s findings are the usual: A majority of Americans opposes same-sex marriage, but the margin has shrunk over the last few years; a majority of people under 30 support it. Support for civil unions is up, to 57 percent (interestingly, their definition of civil union is such that James Dobson ought to say yes to the question). One finding I hadn’t seen before: 42 percent of supporters of same-sex marriage do not want to press the issue too aggressively.
