New State Polls Show Slight Bump for Hillary After Debate

The morning brings three polls from key states, all conducted after Monday night’s debate.

In Florida, Mason Dixon finds Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump, 46 percent to 42 percent, with Gary Johnson at 7 percent and Jill Stein at one percent. “Despite small shifts that have given Clinton a post-debate bump, the race is still very competitive and the outcome will hinge on where and among whom voter turnout is higher. Polling in Florida is split, with neither candidate building a considerable or consistent lead.

In the first Detroit News poll of Michigan this year, Clinton leads Trump, 42 percent to 35 percent. Johnson’s at 9 percent, and Stein is at 3 percent. The seven point lead is slightly larger margin than previous polling in the state.

In New Hampshire, a new WBUR poll shows Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 7 points among likely voters. This is the first WBUR poll since the end of July; that poll, probably near Hillary’s post-convention bump peak, had her ahead by 15 points. Polling in the Granite State this month has consistently shown Clinton leading, by margins ranging from 2 to 9 points.

Of course, Trump won all of the nonscientific self-selecting online polls that allow participants to vote as many times as they like, so it all balances out.
