In the last several days, Adam Davidson tells us in The New Yorker, he has begun “to feel a familiar clarity about what will unfold next in the Trump Presidency. There are lots of details and surprises to come, but the endgame of this Presidency seems as close now as those of Iraq and the financial crisis did months before they unfolded. . . . This is the week we know, with increasing certainty, that we are entering the last phase of the Trump Presidency. This doesn’t feel like a prophecy; it feels like a simple statement of the apparent truth.”
So what’s supposedly going to happen next is that — thanks to the raid of Michael Cohen’s office — more people are going to come to realize that Trump is corrupt. And that will, in some completely unexplained fashion, bring about the end of Trump’s presidency. Will he be removed from office? Resign? Be indicted? File the answers to those questions under “details and surprises.” What matters is what Davidson “feels,” and he tells us his feelings have been right before.
