A while back John Podhoretz wrote a terrific piece about the demise of newsweeklies and why the new Newsweek is so awful. Then along comes Michael Kinsley with a particularly witty and pointed takedown of the magazine’s reinvention. And now Andy Ferguson takes on the same subject and produces such a masterpiece of style and tone that I wanted to applaud at my desk when I finished reading it.
Do I want to read the new Newsweek? No, but I’m beginning to think that I’d like to read a newsweekly about how bad Newsweek is.
UPDATE — And be sure to read Noemie Emery’s piece as well.
