I know this will be suspect coming from me, given the fact that my always-right and lovely wife works for Newt. But I think there’s an interesting tidbit from the Saddleback Forum worth noting. When Obama was asked what his biggest flip-flop was, he said it was welfare reform. When McCain was asked for an example of his biggest flip-flop, he said his changed mind on offshore drilling.
Well, it seems to me – and to some of my closest and most valuable advisors – that Newt can claim to be the prime over on both flips. It was the Gingrich Congress that made welfare reform possible – and successful. And Gingrich was, I believe, at the tip of the drill bit , on the whole “drill here, drill now” crusade.
