But Newt is losing the opportunity to follow South Carolina with a commanding performance, or indeed, any performance at all.  These are presidential debate conditions — quiet hall, no tipped pitches, relentlessly biased questions, Obama vulnerabilities avoided.  Getting the sense that Newt loses by not winning what he is supposed to win easily.  Romney’s night thus far.
