NFL Bars Off-Duty Cops from Carrying Guns into Stadiums

The National Football League has implemented a new stadium policy that would ban off-duty police officers from carrying guns into games. Cleveland’s police union president worried the policy would stop officers from assisting if a dangerous situation arose.

Off-duty police officers often will carry their weapons on them, according to the union president, because “when we walk through city streets, we’re police officers too” and “you never know what’s going to happen, or when it’s going to happen,” he said.

The head of NFL security, on the other hand, said that “the likelihood there’s a need for the use of deadly force by an off-duty officer is extremely remote.”

The new policy will only permit law enforcement assigned to work at the stadiums as well as private security contracted by the teams to carry guns.

Not Less Religion, Just Different Religion

The Pew Poll tells us that society is secularizing -- particularly among the young -- and who can deny it? That is one reason that the free expression of religion is under such intense pressure in the West. But it seems to me that we aren't really becoming less religious. Rather, many are merely changing that ... Read More

Feminists Have Turned on Pornography

Since the sexual revolution of the 1960s, the feminist movement has sought to condemn traditional sexual ethics as repressive, misogynistic, and intolerant. As the 2010s come to a close, it might be fair to say that mainstream culture has reached the logical endpoint of this philosophy. Whereas older Americans ... Read More
