Nike Condemned by ‘Black Lives Matter’ Crowd for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Discount

This was never going to go well:

Athletic outfitter Nike and its subsidiary company Converse offered a 30 percent discount to law enforcement officers on Wednesday, ”Law Enforcement Appreciation Day,” part of National Police Week. The event was advertised with posters such as the above.

Nike issued the following statement earlier today:

Nike has held discount days in its stores for first responders, including law enforcement and the military, since 9/11. Nike has no intention to offend anyone, nor to imply that we are insensitive to the serious and important issues between law enforcement and black communities in America. We care about and support efforts to continue discussions to create positive change and bring equality for everyone in our society.

No good deed, &c.
