After a disappointing first few months, New Mexico is lowering its expectations for the number of Obamcare enrollments by nearly half. The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that state officials pointed to the troubled launch of the HealthCare.gov website as one of the leading causes for the diminished predictions.
Mike Nuñez, CEO of New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, said that the state is now estimating “between 40,000 and 50,000″ enrollees, down from the 83,000 they had expected before the October 1 rollout. Because of the problems with HealthCare.gov, the state said it has held back on promoting the program.
With the 2014 enrollment period set to end March 31, New Mexico has about two months to bump up its enrollment totals from the 7,688 total it had by the end of December.
