No Bump Ahead

Biden hasn’t gotten a polling bump from his much-hyped State of the Union Address, which, if you believe the left-of-center commentators, nearly rivaled Lincoln’s Second Inaugural. Since the speech was aimed at base reassurance, it’s not surprising that it didn’t persuade anyone else to look at Biden differently. Also, since he seemed like a very old man shouting to try to convey a sense of energy (which he was), the speech wasn’t going to make people think that, suddenly, he’d become youthful and vigorous.
