No-Go Areas

A reader: “Having lived a couple of years in central France, I can confirm

to you: It is common knowledge and universally understood that there are

no-go areas in the big cities where the police don’t enter but for

exceptional reasons, and then in platoons. The projects are called HLM

there, and your article describes the situation accurately.

“I would be interested to know if there are stats on such areas in the USA.

It may be urban legend, it may be fact, but it is often said here that the

projects in Chicago, for example, aren’t entered by cops but for excpetional

reasons, and then in platoons.”
