We’ve published a primer to the issue of non-citizen voting, by CUNY political scientist and CIS Fellow (and Bush biographer) Stanley Renshon. The goal of the drive for non-citizen voting is explicit; as one of its chief theorists puts it:
“Creation of a truly universal suffrage would create conditions conducive to forming progressive coalitions. Imagine the progressive political possibilities in jurisdictions of high numbers of immigrants such as New York City; Los Angles; Washington, D.C.; and Chicago — as well as in such states — if non citizens were re-enfranchised.”
But maybe, if we all clap our hands and say we believe in faeries, they’ll all vote Republican instead.
