After minutes of listening to Media Matters’s David Brock dissimulate and evade the question of whether Hillary Clinton broke the law by using a private email account while working as Secretary of State, exasperated MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski said she wasn’t even sure “what planet I’m on” and asked if they were both ”reading the same [regulations.]“

As head of the left-wing media watchdog, Brock frequently sics his researchers on ethical breaches — real or imagined — perpetrated by conservative figures.

But whenThe New York Times reported that Hillary Clinton broke State Department regulations by exclusively using a private email account for government business, Brock attacked the paper and said Clinton had done nothing wrong.

“The whole premise of it has fallen apart, that Hillary Clinton violated the law here,” Brock said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Wednesday.

But Bob Woodward accused him of “twisting” the story, and Brzezinski said that Brock’s claim that her predecessors did the same doesn’t hold up, since they were held not held to a 2009 law requiring officials to use official agency emails for records retention purpose. “We just read one [regulation] to you, David,” she said.

“Isn’t that a violation of regulation, yes or no?” she asked.

“No,” Brock replied. “Is that your legal position? I don’t understand. There’s not an independent legal authority who’s backing up what you’re saying.”

“Oh my God. I’m not sure what planet I’m on right now,” Brzezinski said. “Are you reading the same thing we are?”
