NRA Having a Record Fundraising Year

Richmond’s CBS6 reports that the NRA is having a banner fundraising year:

The National Rifle Association announced its grassroots fundraising program “Friends of NRA” is having a record fundraising year.

“The success of this year’s Friends of NRA banquets would not have been possible without the hard work of our incredibly dedicated volunteers and attendees,” said Sarah Budi, Director of Volunteer Fundraising in a statement. “Our success is a direct result of their efforts and the reason 2013 has been a record breaking year. Thanks to our supporters, the future continues to look bright for the shooting sports.”

The program has grossed $51 million in 2013, one million dollars more than last year, the NRA announced. There are more than 200 fundraising events left in 2013.

This is a reminder of what must be an irritating problem for the Left: The more that gun control is mooted, the more guns are bought, the more money is raised, and, as we saw in Colorado, the more likely Democrats are to lose their seats. Nine out of the ten busiest weeks for the National Instant Criminal Background Checks System in its 15-year history were in 2013; concealed-carry permit applications are going through the roof across the country; and fifteen states have weakened their gun restrictions since January 1st.

Better just to leave it alone, eh?
