Received the following email from a former senior research guy in the aerospace defense industry:

“Just read your piece at NRO, and totally agree. I would add one other point to what you say: the best way to preserve the safety of our troops and neutralize IEDs is to blow them up before you get there, and we know how to do it. Just cook them ahead of the vehicle with either hi freq radiation or neutron bombardment. Of course, that gets the nuke nuts all riled up, and makes the IAEA types come after us for danger to civilian populations (either due to the radiated energy or just the blasts we initiate).”
