The Corner

The GSE reform bill, which includes a provision for an “affordable housing fund” that would funnel money toward fringe activist groups like ACORN (you can find out more about the group here), passed in the House this week. House Minority Whip Roy Blunt attached an amendment to the bill that will make the funding more transparent, and while that’s better than nothing, it would’ve been best to simply gut the fund altogether. The bill is in committee in the Senate now, and it’s likely to pass in some form — one hopes without the fund. (Read NRO’s editorial on the topic here.)
