The Corner

NY 4

From a reader:

No one in pundit-land has taken this race seriously.  Carolyn McCarthy won 65% of the vote in 2008.  However, she is an undistinguished, 7 term, Congresswoman with a 97% Pelosi voting record in a district that has significant Republican and conservative voting pockets.  She is facing Fran Becker, from Lynbrook (one of those conservative pockets) who has, with virtually no money or national backing, managed to develop grass roots momentum and enthusiasm, particularly in the significant Orthodox Jewish community.  With the Governor and Senate races virtually uncontested, the question is, how many democrat voters will bother to show up today?  If Becker pulls this off, it will be a VERY long night for the Democrats.  I would not rule it out.
