The NYPD’s Gun Safety Demonstration

Via the New York Times’s police correspondent:

Seriously, NYPD? You’re about to have a press conference at which the words “gun” and “safety” will undoubtedly be used, and you’ve pointed all of the weapons at the audience. As a general rule, my experience is that the more insistent upon gun rights a person is, the more insistent they are on basic safety, too. This much is drilled into pretty much everybody who has ever taken a class or gone shooting with a law-abiding gun owner: Do not point a gun at a person under any circumstances, regardless of whether it is loaded or unloaded, working or defunct. And they wonder why gun owners are so suspicious of them . . .
