I believe that the record for a NY Times correction is approximately 49 years.
On January 13, 1920, the Times ran an editorial blasting Robert Goddard’s rocket research and stating that Goddard “only seems to lack the knowledge ladled out daily in high schools,” since it was obvious a rocket couldn’t work in space since it had no air to push against.
They were moved to print a correction in July of 1969, just after the Apollo 11 launch:
“Further investigation and experimentation have confirmed the findings of Isaac Newton in the 17th century, and it is now definitely established that a rocket can function in a vacuum as well as in an atmosphere. The Times regrets the error.”
