An e-mail from yesterday:
The day after Judy Miller went to jail, the NY Times ran a rather large editorial on the need for a free press, etc. Quoting the Times, “…she has surrendered her liberty in defense of greater liberty, granted to a free press by the founding fathers so journalists can work on behalf of the public without fear of regulation or retaliation from any branch of government…”
I fully expected the same treatment for Steven Vincent today. However, that is not the case.
Plus, I’m now looking at the dates. The Times editorial ran on July 7. How fitting. As the rest of the world woke up to the continued threat of Islamic terrorism, the editors of the NY Times were busy gushing over their “defender of liberty”.
