Obama Camp Won’t Apologize to Romney

Stephanie Cutter, the Obama deputy campaign manager who suggested last week that Mitt Romney may be guilty of a felony, said today there would be no apology.

“He is not going to get an apology,” Cutter said on Face the Nation. “It’s interesting just a few months ago in the Republican primary, Mitt Romney said to his opponents, who he was crushing at the time, ‘stop whining.’ And I think that’s a good message for the Romney campaign.”

Romney adviser Kevin Madden, asked about additional release of Romney’s tax returns (he has released two years), argued that he had already provided ample financial disclosure. “He’s gone above and beyond the law that’s required of financial disclosures,” Madden stated.

Madden also called the Obama campaign’s new ad – which features Romney singing “America the Beautiful” as news clippings of overseas jobs and offshore bank accounts pop up — “very troubling,” and said it was inappropriate that they would “mock” Romney’s singing.
