Obama Chastises Republicans for Obamacare Repeal Votes

In his address to Congress tonight, President Obama challenged Republicans to present an alternative to his signature health-care law, which they continue to oppose. “Let’s see if the numbers add up,” he said during his State of the Union address.

Until then, he argued, Republicans should stop with their efforts to repeal the law. “The first 40 [votes] were plenty,” he quipped.

Three Republican senators introduced a plan yesterday to repeal most of Obamacare and replace it with an alternative plan.

Despite the law’s rocky launch, the president still touted its success so far, singling out examples such as Kentucky’s exchange, pointing out the state’s governor Steve Beshear, who was present.

But, he said, there’s more work to be done: “Moms, get on your kids to sign up. Kids, call your mom and walk her through the application.”
