A reader disagrees with my complaint:
There is a reasoned distinction between the economy and foreign policy. Continuation of the shrinking confidence in the economy, will just make the hole deeper. It is appropriate that he signal what he wants through Congress, and how he’ll improve the economy, so as to begin to turn things around.
On the other hand, if Obama is too vocal on foreign policy/ military matters, he runs the risk of confusing our friends and enemies, with unforeseen consequences.
I think he has struck the balance well. He is not facing a “usual” economic situation, during this transition. Our economy continues to deteriorate, rapidly.
